Choice of Controls

This is another important issue to consider when you are buying a stairlift. There are many types of control and they vary according to which manufacturers product you choose.

You will need to consider which type of control will be most suitable for you. To use the stairlift you will have to be able to keep the control button pressed for the whole length of the trip. If you suffer from arthritis, for example, this could be quite painful. A joystick or toggle control would be easier to use in these circumstances as it will take the pressure off your fingers and is easier on the wrists. It is also possible to have an attendant control so someone else in the house can send the lift up and down for you. It is important to choose the control that you feel most comfortable with.
